# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • It comes together faster than ordering takeout and tastes about ten times better.
  • Every ingredient gets to shine without competing, just a clean lineup of textures and flavors.
  • You can make it at midnight in your pajamas and feel like you've accomplished something real.
02 -
  • If your tomato is watery, lay the slices on a paper towel for a minute before using them or your sandwich will turn into a soggy mess.
  • Don't cook the bacon on high heat thinking it'll be faster, it just burns the edges and leaves the middle flabby.
  • Toast the bread just before assembling or it'll lose its crunch while you're fussing with everything else.
03 -
  • Let the bacon cool for a minute before adding it to the sandwich so it doesn't wilt the lettuce or melt the mayo.
  • If you're making more than one, keep the cooked bacon warm in a low oven while you toast the bread so everything stays hot.
  • Cut the sandwich right before serving, not ahead of time, or the insides will shift and slide everywhere.
